Before the birth of Radio Antilles the Windward Islands were served by their regional radio network the Windward Islands Broadcasting Service (WIBS) which was based in Grenada. Relay stations dotted the landscapes of Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. WIBS closed down in 1972 after 18 years on-the-air.
