Before understanding the pomposity of foot ball where millions watch but only FIFA benefits, (not even the organizing country, Brazil); before honorable MLAs strive hard to learn to organize the similar events (when was the last time India played in world cup?) by making a pleasure trip at the expense of public money- I think what is important for our political masters is to experience life in real time. They have to understand life with out any privileges, without any basic amenities, they have to experience what it means to be a sportsperson without any support, a farmer where everyone plays a gamble with them including the monsoons; they have to experience what it means to be unemployed what it means to be a dalit, a minority, a girl child, a woman, an aged person or a disabled without social welfare in a consumerist, parochial caste ridden society. They have to experience power cuts and hunger pangs, to be a last person in the line, to be at the lowest rung of social hierarchy. Then only they can come up with better policies to enhance the quality of life of all the citizens rather than feasting and touring at the expense of common man.
