Beginner’s music advice, from a beginnner! If you are like me and weren’t born a guru, but love making music, then the biggest advice is to find people around you that can give you valuable and honest feedback. Some producers don’t need any help and that is a skill, but when you’re learning the craft, there is no harm in finding out more about frequencies, arrangement and mixdowns. Your project might almost be finished, but you might have some rogue frequencies or sounds that are holding the mix back. I am lucky enough to have a handful of honest people around and I don’t mind if the feedback they give me is negitive. Choose people that are happy to burst your bubble in order to raise your quality. Am I the world’s next superstar, NO, but will I make music that I am proud of, YES. This is what I’m all about, the end result in making music that someone, somewhere in the world will enjoy. Never feel like you can’t ask for help, if you can learn 1 thing from every 1 person that you work with, then after working with 10 people your project will start to sound bigger and fuller. One day you may do everything yourself and that is a learnt skill from hard work, but until then don’t be afraid to use your network, you’d be surprised just how many people you respect also use others to polish their Porsche. To the person I annoy the most! Steve Hart If you are an Adelaide producer and want a local, skilled in many areas, then touch base and pay for some time with Hart Steve for tips on how to shape your sound and push your production in the right direction. My 3rd tune coming out later this year now has a warmer bottom end, a kick that cuts through nicer, more character in my synths and a cleaner feel overall. The boy understands music and me. Thank you to Domenico Pergoleto, for letting me bug you and for the tips & advice and seeing how you work is just super. Thank you millions to Sgt Slick Andrew Ramanauskas for the advice and sounding board and for the mastering about to take place. There are a few others that have always helped, from many moons ago, and still today, you know who you are, so a big fat thank you. To those who may feel the need to pay me out, for posting this on my facebook, 123 GO for it…..
