Beginning and the end or whatever you want to call it. Here is a subject that very few people want to talk about, even though if you look hard enough, chances are that every time you drive by a funeral parlor you would notice that there is a plaque on the premises somewhere telling you in no uncertain terms, that sooner or later you will end up in one of their locations. It would not surprise me to find out those hospital maternity wards, has an unwritten agreement that we bring them into the world, and you either bury or cremate them. This has been going on for a long time, and there is not much you can do about it. Therefore, I propose not to change an arrangement that has worked so well in the past. I know a fellow who made the statement to me once, that we are all born to die, never realizing that the in-between time is that counts. Needless to say, that this fellow was not a very happy skipper, since every wave he encountered he figured that this is it. He is 83 years old and cannot understand of what kept him alive all those years. Feel sorry for those who can only see what is wrong with this world, never realizing that they were in charge of their own destiny, at least, most of the time. As far as I am concerned, this is one beautiful world we live in and if you are aware of your surrounding you will see and hear it too. Many a years ago I created, or was it my alter ego? A little something whom I converse with on a weekly basis. Moreover, since I have to address him I will just call it the little cheese, for I am the big cheese. for I shall always have the last word and take responsible for my own action. With that said I shall refer to my little creation as === That should do it. === Well, I be. Finally, you gathered up enough courage to introduce me to your friends. Me: And who may you be? === I know that you are not stupid, so do not act as if you were. Me: Right as usual. === So what was it that started you to call on me again? Me: The subject of death or dying, you can also call it, ones reach of perfection. === What makes you think that death is perfection? Me: For there is no higher plateau. This is the end of the line, nowhere else to go, for you have reached the place where everything is equal and the best part of it all is you are not even conscious about it. So what do you say about this interpretation? === Pretty good reasoning for a nonprofessional. Me: Is this a compliment? === Don’t push your luck. Me: Do you know where this discussion is leading? === I was under the impression that you knew. Me; Well, it started with the realization that we all have to go sometimes; there is no set age limit. If nature sees it fit it will give you a healthy body to start with, your six senses, intact and a set of parents who think that they know what they are doing. === Yippy! Anything else? Me. I shall skip the in-between. [ which will be in another chapter or chapters. ] and concentrate on the getting old part. === What is so hard to understand about getting old? You start out brand new, if you are lucky you came out of the factory well assembled and all the parts are working well. You fill her up, hopefully your exhaust works well, for when that gets plugged you have got problems, but there are plenty mechanics who will fix that for you. You cruise through life, your chassis gets whacked out of shape ones in a while, but if you are lucky and you have a mechanic who knows what he/she is doing, there is no reason to think that with a few repairs now and then you will be all right until a complete breakdown. Just make sure that your mechanic does not talk you into expensive repairs. It might prolong your lifespan for a short time, but the end result is very painful to watch and you are better off to just pull the plug, and remember how this story started? So, enjoy.
