Beginning in August, workers from the National Park Service’s Historic Architecture Conservation and Engineering Center (HACEC) were on-site repairing aging wooden beams that support the fort’s drawbridge. Staff from the park’s maintenance division also provided assistance. The project wrapped up in late October with minimal disruption to park operations. The HACEC office is headquartered in Lowell, MA and is tasked with designing and executing rehabilitation and preservation projects on park assets throughout the Northeast Region.
