Beginning to get all my corrupt charities mixed up. So first it was CRC right? And the CEO could not be compelled to go before public accounts committee? So it all just went away. Then it was Rehab and Monica Kerins and Frank Flannery who cannot be compelled to go before the PAC. So we presume this is all just going to go away? The Red Cross in Ireland was thoroughly and comprehensively discredited a few years ago by Phoenix magazine, as was, Im sorry to say, Amnesty in Ireland. Like everything else, nobody is or will be held accountable and everyone will go back to stealing from the vulnerable. So when TK Maxx next asks me to donate to Enable Ireland I will politely decline. And when UNICEF suggests I give up my coffee or the Irish Cancer Society asks me to buy a daffodil or the Simon Community shakes a bucket, Im afraid I will have to say no. There are good people working in all these charities but theyre at the bottom of the pile and Im not supporting the corruption of big brand organisations anymore.
