Behind every rescue, there is another story. After all the “Hooray’s, A life Has Been Saved!!!” there is another story… the story that is just emerging, the rescue that is just NOW beginning… Far behind the curtains of public view, the true heart and soul of rescue takes place… maybe days, maybe months… but the true heart of rescue continues for as long as it is necessary… for an animal to truly be FREE… far beyond the ride… is the road… and that road is the road of recovery, rehabilitation, and sometimes – like LUCY – that road is fraught with surgeries and aftercare and more surgeries. LUCY needs OUR help because she must raise more funds than ever imagined when she barely escaped euthanasia from a high-kill shelter. She needs heart valve and eyelid surgery. We here at OPCA are committed to LUCY because our involvement doesnt end when a dog is “pulled.” Rather, we continue to help support these death defying angels to ensure they receive the veterinary care they require to be placed in suitable adoptive homes.
