Behind the Music! Today Im sharing Drum Kit from the new record. This was one of the last songs I wrote for the record. The idea to do a song about the parts of the drum kit and what they sound like had been tossing around in my head for a couple of years. Then this past summer, my cat Hank was sick and stopped eating for about 10 days (Hes fine now, he bounced back!)...I thought he was going to cross over the rainbow bridge and I felt so helpless, after visiting the vet a few times and they couldnt find anything wrong with him...THATs when I wrote this song. Cats and drum kits have nothing to do with each other, but something about not being able to help my kitty, made me sit down and write this song...it made me feel better actually. I never did figure out what was wrong with Hank...hes a big funny lovable cat, who is doing great and is about to celebrate turning double-digits, on Valentines Day! I thought it would be fun to have a guest drummer on this tune, so I asked Glenn Kotche, Wilcos drummer, and he graciously came in and played on the track! What inspired me most about him, was watching how focused, creative and diligent he was (and charming and easy-going too!), and chatting with him between takes reminded me that being a full-time musician is hard work, but if you give it your all, you will have success!
