Being Great As soon as we came out of our mothers, our lives - TopicsExpress

Being Great As soon as we came out of our mothers, our lives started to deteriorate. I wonder how many people have thought about life in that respect? We are born to die. But what matters is what you do in between the beginning and the end. The only difference between famous and homeless is money. If there were no money, we’d all be equal. People wouldn’t be remembered for what movie they starred in, but rather, for the good deeds they did. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Mahatma Gandhi are remembered for their deeds, not for their celebrity. The deeds that I have done thus far won’t earn me a place in history, no. If I’m remembered at all, it will be with the label of “prisoner” or “monster.” But it’s not too late. Nothing ever is. I can still be great and compensate for my mistakes. I refuse to quit, to just be a number. I will be great–if not in the eyes of the world than at least in the eyes of my children. I am determined to get rid of the mark of the monster, and to replace it with magnificent, great, leader, lover, hero, Somebody! My clock is counting down, but life is far from over. -Lorenzo, Alameda
