Being Sixty-six years old and a lifetime resident of Jeffersontown - TopicsExpress

Being Sixty-six years old and a lifetime resident of Jeffersontown I am of the opinion that if God had created any other place better to live in He kept it for Himself. Heaven comes to mind. As of yesterday I thought I would give you a break from my insanity but the wife of a dear friend I was raised with whom I know is crazy ask me to post more. I didnt know she was crazy too but that request certified it. But here goes one last memory for 2014. Before Jeffersontown became the thriving metropolis it is today and before the J-town-4 became a reality, Mom and Dad would pack myself, Phyllis and Rose and several lawn chairs up and we would journey to Buechel to the Skyway Drive Inn. Wed jump from the car and rush toward the screen to a neat little playground and try to swing high enough to see our reflection on the screen. It wasnt until my later years, when I started driving that I came to the realization that there was more entertainment on the back rows of the complex but thats a story better left untold. In those days, you could pull the keys out of the ignition and your car would continue to run. My friend had a 1960 Chevy and I had a 1959 Chevy and their keys interchanged. My friends had the bright idea to put three guys in the trunk and get into the Drive Inn free. Unfortunately, my friend pulled the keys from the ignition, put them in his pocket and locked themselves in the trunk. We didnt have all the neat buttons and gadgets to open the trunk and get them out. The driver drove around for two hours looking for me and my keys because cell phones were nonexistent. I hope these recollections will add a little cheer to your Christmas.
