Being a History student, today and tonight, going into tomorrow is - TopicsExpress

Being a History student, today and tonight, going into tomorrow is going to be such a momentous occasion in the History of the British nation - which ever situation the nation finds itself in, whether Scotland remains in the Union or not - and Modern British History books are going to be rewritten. I am quite nervous, as It feels as if from tomorrow onwards, my British identity (the one where I am a part of four nations, together as one United country that has and could continue to achieve so much together) will be ripped apart. It may seem silly, but I know I am English, but whenever I am asked what my nationality is, Im always proud to say I am British first and foremost. I know there are many Scots who feel the same. I hope that this same sentiment is resonated today, where the people of Scotland realise that it is Better Together because. as one we are all made stronger. I do feel, however, if the predicted polls go according to plan, that the No campaign may just clinch the vote. Being a History student, I am quite excited as well, because living through this History in the making on this magnitude is truly worth watching and experiencing, however painful it may be. More importantly, it is lovely that the people of Scotland can exercise a democratic right (though, I dont like the fact that around 5 million people have the power to decide the fate of over 60 million). Anyway, no sleep for me tonight. I shall be divulging in a decent bottle of Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon (a beautiful French elixir) and following the commentary, watching Scotland Decides on BBC1. :) youtube/watch?v=fUdspRfdm7c
