Being a Muslim It is January 9th, 2015 While I am sitting in front of my laptop and typing my views for you all to read, the families of twelve persons mourn their loss in Paris. Charlie Hebdo had been assaulted in what appears to a Jihadist attack. Their allegations were that the Rasul-Allah (Prophet of God) was attacked. They said it was blasphemous. So, they shot down these men who were just having another normal day at the office, idealizing another attack on the society of intellectuals. But was that all? The attack on Charlie Hebdo was tragic. I see it as a warning, a warning that anyone who raises a voice against tyranny would just be silenced, by hook or by crook. This pseudo-tradition of Preservation of Islam has augmented to such a horrifying scale that even the most clergy Muslim; living with a family, working to earn food for his kids and happiness for himself is looked at with distrustful eyes by the society nowadays. I have a message for the so called Keepers of Islam or whatever you people call yourselves; enough is Enough! childrenThere was a time when we used to be free to think, free to express, and free to demand what was rightfully ours. Now that the world has gone so ugly that when a child demands education, she is shot on the head. When a woman tries to defend herself from a rapist, she is hanged to death and when people raise their voice to try and get back what is theirs, they are smart bombed. Even the omniscient God, who made all of us, would be certainly ashamed of himself to create us, who just have managed to mock him and his creations in every possible heinous way. The right to question is our fundamental right. We have the right to question if we see something’s not right or something is out of the ordinary. Even if we feel mortified to ask because of the sacred boundaries, our forefathers have stretched to keep religion holy at its best, still at some point of time the question pops out in our mind. How is it possible for him to allow us to kill each other? How does he allow his name to be used while madmen butcher the innocents? Why did he let the earth flood with blood and hatred? Our religions were created to unite us, protect us, discipline us and serve each other within and outside of the religion. The problem started when we all got awfully scared of losing it and suddenly started protecting it with swords, guns and drones. Talking exclusively about Islam Rasul-Allah¬ always supported the notion of question. Question is something which may bring doubts but at the same time it frees us from being stereotyped. Everything in this universe can be put under question. Few handfuls understand that satirizing is just questioning in another form. Killing innocents under his name is actually a slap on the face of Islam. The sudden growth of mafia organizations that pretend to be serving their faith has put secularism and freedom under a serious test. This was never the type of future all our forefathers had imagined for us. These handfuls of people are brooding everywhere and these are the ones who bring a bad name to the entire community because News Flash! They give a shit about religion. All they care about is money and power. Religion is a universal language understood by each and every one when linguistics fails. And they use this language to lure the others into the swamp, they are already in so that they could step on them and get out of there. Just holding a Quran in one hand and shouting ‘Allah-hu-Akbar’ won’t make you a Muslim. Offering ’paanch rakaat’ namaz won’t make you a Muslim either. Quran says a man is a Muslim if he obeys the pure and humble ways of God and accepts the path of righteousness that he shows. And if he defies this path, then he becomes a non-believer. Islam isn’t just a religion; it is a higher form of realization of reality and God. I hope those misanthropes look at this and understand what I am trying to say. Terrorism and murder wont fetch you heaven. It will only direct you to the gates of Hell. 9/11, 26/11, Madrid attacks, London, Gaza, Sydney siege, Peshawar and now Paris. Sometimes I think what went wrong. As a race, we humans keep on saying that we are the best creations for we have created skyscrapers, defeated Polio, elongated our God given lives by revolutionizing Medicines, walked the moon and integrated all the possible information possible at the touch of a finger. We look at the animals and pity them. But the truth is we are so degraded that we would never be able to match the innocence of these animals. They kill in order to survive. End of story. Why do we kill? The reasons are innumerable. Some of them are; it is fun, I need to protect my faith, I need his wife, I need his money, I need the chair and so on. In the past few years, we killed the human element in us to wickedly evolve into something which not only intimidates us when we see the reflection but has managed to kill off the conscience too. Einstein once said, ‘True religion is real living, living with one’s soul, with all one’s goodness and righteousness.’ This holds true to its every word. We will raise our fingers whenever injustice is seen. Not even the guns can silence the very idea we believe in. Free thinkers will take birth and will keep provoking our minds. You people will need more than just bullets to silence us. It is time you better reconsider your current path and come back to righteousness before it’s too late. An eye for an eye never accounts for justice but for destruction. It’s time when we all realize it and stop the brooding carnage. Hatred should be stopped at any cost otherwise I am afraid to say; there will be nothing left for our coming generations to rejoice upon… P.S: I am a Muslim and I believe in change and prosperity.
