Being a bit of a wine enthusiast a trip to the Napa Valley over here in California was a must for me. Its a really nice area with some fantastic buildings. But I still reckon Australian wine kicks them pretty hard in most cases. This place though takes the cake: Castello di Amarosa. It is a recreated medieval castle in the same theme as Italian noblemen lived in. Its huge and so true to life in amazing detail. The wine wasnt bad either! With quite a lot of Italian varieties grown around the Castle, Sangiovese was my favourite. It was very impressive! The Napa Valley is well worth a visit. Different to Aussie wine areas in some ways. But in the end good wine is good wine, where it should reflect the weather, soil and grapes. And it does. Life in the Middle Ages would have been ok in a place like this, except for the part about no electricity, TV, or mobile phones and certainly no Facebook - haha! Cheers JB
