Being a forum for Tone Secrets for guitarists I felt a string brand comparison would be good. So I compared my strings of choice, Ernie Ball Slinkys to Dunlops new strings. Im two weeks in on the Dunlops. My testing guitar is a Jackson SDX with a Floyd Rose and brass block loaded with a DiMarzio Titan bridge pickup. Both brands of strings are 9s. Im rating them on multiple performance features. For tuning stability=Dunlop. For flexibility in bends=Dunlop. For output=Ernie Ball. For tonal evenness=Ernie Ball. For sweet high freq. and rounded lows=Ernie Ball. For durability Ernie Ball. For cost=Ernie Ball. So while I like Dunlops ill stick with the Ernie Ball Super Slinkys. Please let me know if any of you have done similar tests. I dont even want to get into my Ernie Ball/DAddario comparison :|
