Being a public figure on national television and international cable, I anticipate being asked questions during my workouts at the gym. I enjoy educating and sharing my knowledge. I have noted over the years that the MMA community was quick to embrace the Low Glycemic Lifestyle. On the other hand, the Body Building Community has not been as quick to embrace the science? Im not trying to Broad Brush the entire body building community as I have many friends and sponsored athletes who are body builders and they do embrace the Low Glycemic Lifestyle. There was a time when we advocated eating Complex Carbs like sweet potato and brown rice. Now we know that sweet potato is 62 on the Glycemic Index and brown rice is 67 on the Glycemic Index. This is considered high on the GI. This means that brown rice and sweet potato will elevate your Insulin levels which in turn 1- Prevent your body from using fat as a fuel source 2- Signals the body to store fat 3- overstimulates the Insulin receptors which may eventually cause the Insulin Receptors to become Resistant and Down Regulate. This is Type 2 Diabetes. Lets stick with True science! God Bless.
