Being a representative of Balasore, this is the most poignant time - TopicsExpress

Being a representative of Balasore, this is the most poignant time for me, when the entire region is reeling under floods due to incessant rains for the last couple of days! Water levels in Subarnarekha River is swelling by the hour, and as already reached alarming levels. More areas under Jaleswar, Bhigrai, Baliapal and Basta may get affected if rains continue over the next few hours. Am rushing back to Balasore from Delhi, leaving ongoing Parliament Sessions, to ensure I stay close to my people in such trying times. District Administration has sounded a flood alert across the district. I am in constant touch with concerned Authorities of Jharkhand and Odisha and have asked them to take all necessary steps in the most affected zones. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure safety of our brothers and sisters living in the low-lying areas. I will be in Balasore until situation returns to normalcy; will take stock of the state-of-affairs on the ground from all concerned Authorities; we will try hard to emerge out of this situation at the earliest. I shall be connected and will keep you all updated on the latest situation. I request all to stay strong until the situation improves.
