Being a resident of Palmdale, CA, I’m interested in the actor Raymond Hatton, who acted in 100s of movies, especially Westerns. He appeared in “Hell’s Heroes,” which was filmed near Palmdale in August 1929. One of his costars in this movie was Fritzi Ridgeway, who later lived in neighboring Lancaster. He also appeared with John Wayne—who lived in Lancaster for 1 year when he was around 7—in several movies. In 1963, Hatton and his actress wife, Frances, moved to Palmdale. Soon after celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary, Frances died at Palmdale Hospital. Only 5 days after her death, Raymond passed away in their home (1971). Raymond has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Hattons are buried in Lancaster (Joshua Memorial Park).
