Being an entrepreneur Now, more so than ever, we have entrepreneurs appearing all over the world. The advent of technology has made it easier than ever for anyone to start up their own business. But succeeding in your chosen profession - or even in the service or product that you have chosen to market – doesn’t come easily. It involves plenty of hard work, creativity, strategic marketing, finance and timing. So, if you want to go out alone and be your own boss, bear these factors in mind. 1) Your first year will be tough. You will make mistakes, hopefully ones not that big, which will close your business, but enable you to learn and adapt. 2) Be flexible. Your idea may need to manifest if it is to succeed. Don’t be so stuck in your ways that you can’t adapt to changes in the business environment that you want to succeed in. 3) Self-belief is an important tool to succeeding. If you don’t believe in yourself and/or your product or service, no one else will. 4) Be prepared for days when nothing goes right. That is just part of the process. But don’t give up. Keep having faith in your idea and think about what you can do better. 5) Try to have enough cash to last you a year. You need to plan for the worse case scenario and that is you may not earn any income in your first 12 months, therefore you need financial support. 6) Make sure you have a stable environment in which to operate. Whether you work from home, have to move back with your parents, or have hired office space, try to ensure that you can have 12 months of stability because a lot of other things won’t be so stable. 7) Seek help. Don’t try to do everything single thing on your own. It is time consuming and means that you won’t focus your attention on the aspects of your business that are really important. 8) Have a schedule. If you like to work early in the morning and that is when you are at your intellectual best, then plan your day around that. If you need to exercise three times a week to keep your sanity, then plan your week around that. Remember, you are your own boss, so work the hours that will get the best out of you. 9) Educate yourself. Whether it is attending seminars, reading books, meeting with peers or leaders in the field you want to succeed in, keep learning. 10) Good luck! youtube/watch?v=2IrAJRYsa7I
