Being ignorant of Gods righteousness. Nothing will do to appear in before God but Gods righteousness. Did you not hear it..........Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matt. 5:20) Nothing will meet with Gods approval but Gods righteousness. We must all die, and we know not how soon. It is a solemn fact that if we die and appear before God, not in Christs righteousness, we shall be frowned into hell, let our notions, whims, and fancies be what they may. Nothing will stand us in any stead, in death and judgment, but being found in Gods righteousness. Our sin is against God; and He that makes atonement for that sin must be God. The law we have broken is Gods law, and He that heals that breach must be God. We have to do with God. And be found in Him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith, that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. (Phil. 3:9,10)
