Being retired and only working par time can be fun, it gives extra time on ones hands. For instance I was placed on hold for 33 minutes waiting on AT&T to talk to to an AT&T representative. OK two can play this game, you take up my time, I will take up your time. We went over my phone bill line by line, it is amazing what we are paying for, Federal Universal Service $1.12, this fee is to pay someone a yearly salary to see that all the fees get paid to people that can not afford a phone, I did not know the phone company was into forcing one to pay out a charity. Get this, a Federal Subscriber Line Charge, this is the Federal Government giving AT&T the power to charge you a line maintenance fee, fro me that fee is. $6.78, what a concept. getting permission from the Federal Government to basically let AT&T do an add on fee for line maintenance, I thought that is what my phone bill paid for. Silly me. Then we have the local Emergency 911 Fee in my case $1.50 which goes to the local Government that handles 911 calls, in my case Clayton County. I can live with that. Then there is this GA UAF Surcharge this allows Georgia to hire 750 employees to make sure that we are getting fair prices on our phone, gas, light, hummmmmmm like we could not figure out on our own that we are getting nickle and dime to death, for me this charge is a mere $0.45. To make this long story shorter, after getting my 33 minutes worth of conversation with AT&T representative, I saved $11.14 for a yearly savings of $133.68 which equals out to be roughly 11 twelve packs of Miler Lite beer, and the kicker I was upgraded from 4MPPS to 6MPPS for no addition cost, I think she threw that in just to shut me up and get me off the phone. I feel much better now. : )
