Being socially responsible means doing certain things in a way that a well informed citizen knows is right, despite having the freedom to do otherwise. Many call being forced to do these same certain things a certain way socialism or communism. The difference is in the knowledge required within citizens and whether or not these citizens will do what is right without being forced. Freedom requires education, retention of knowledge, and a willingness among people to do what is right without a law telling them to do so. Which way will things need to go to become sustainable?
