Being thankful...and cherishing every spoken word! When we - TopicsExpress

Being thankful...and cherishing every spoken word! When we first learnt that Hughan couldnt hear us and he was unaware we were communicating, it was daunting the challenge ahead! It took lots and lots of effort to teach him his lip-reading and communication skills. We had to repeat and repeat the same words and short sentences over and over. Then one day Hughan started trying to repeat what we were saying. This made me truly thankful for every spoken word. I was encouraged to write down every day what we were doing at home in Botswana as we lived far away from Cape Town. This meant that The Carel du Toit Centre could track Hughans progress. We are also very thankful for the guidance and encouragement we were given by Vanessa at the Centre and feel blessed to have our diary as a record of what we did to help Hughan. Helping parents with hearing impaired children through our own experience. Please visit our page...like and follow us to help others... A big thank you to everyone following our page. Thanks :) Sue Pietersen
