Being the press text issued by newly elected leadership of national association of polytechnic students (NAPS), the journey ahead. On behalf of the newly elected leadership of NAPS, I wish to sincerely appreciate the entire congress of NAPS comprising Senators, Stakeholders and Delegated Students of various institutions under NAPS, our sister Organization National Association of Nigerian Students NANS, the zonal coordinators of NANS, Management and student of Federal Polytechnic Offa, The host institution of NAPS 24th National Congress. It became amazing and very shocking that our leadership emerge at congress the most powerful, and highest decision making organ of NAPS, it became necessary in an effort to REBRAND, REDEEM and DEFEND the image and integrity of our dear organization, the conversion of the association to business venture as display by some greed elements, the outright rejection of the bid to use the organization to further negotiate till 2015 by immediate past executive council led by Comr. OGBONYA Sunday who had earlier raise false security information to disrupt the earlier schedule of the convention in kwara state by the senate council of NAPS as resolved in pre – convention held in Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu between 7th- 9th November 2014, the bid to defraud the management and government of Federal Polytechnic Offa and Kwara State respectively. Using pretence to ensure no election holds in the National Congress to further elongate the already expired tenure of outgone leadership of NAPS in office. It became shocking when the congress dissolved our the past leadership on the ground of unnecessary elongation of tenure of 1 year 5 months; we became the product of revolutionary congress, aiming at repositioning the association. It became a matter of necessity to sound note of warning to all concern body making effort to divide the indivisible NAPS, the failure of utgone presidet of naps favorite candidate in an election held at the congress on Saturday is symbol of rejection of imposition of candidate and lack of capacity to mobilize the genieu senator as well an effort to hijack our campus based association to a garden in abuja, which is contrary to the norms and core value of our reputable organization. I wish to call on all interfering strength to desist from such divisive effort because IT CAN NOT WORK, our leadership CAN NOT BE FACTION no matter what, the credibility of a candidate is the electoral value he or she required to win such race. The ability to accept and concede a defeat in a contest is spirit of sportsmanship which is expected from all genuine student leaders aspiring to lead. I have led several (struggle) in my days in Kaduna polytechnic as concern student leader and as senate president of NAPS, at Jos Plateau State industrial training fund (ITF) for release and payment of SIWES allowance, ASUP strike protest in Kaduna, Abuja and Lagos, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) imposition of 1,000 for online result checking for UTME Exam and lots more but I have not recorded any vandalization of properties or lost of life despite an often police brutality in the course of most of these actions. Talk less of leading student to face payment of damages, our maturity and coordination as always been our scope of operation. My prompt and timely intervention on issues that border on polytechnic/colleges of education students while serving as senate president also contributed to my victory as majority of student have confidence and comfort in my leadership style. Some of the above mentioned earned me land slide victory at the congress that led to the election where I emerge national president of NAPS. Antecedent speaks better of the real men of integrity. Although it may not go well with some dubious set of people because of the fear of who and the material we the new executive are made of considering our doggedness and vibrancy but I will implore them all to imbibe the spirit of unity for posterity sake. Our focus is to strengthen our dear association; we are committed to non partisian struggle towards liberating our sector. It is of great important to state this ‘ NEITHER ME AS PERSON NOR OUR ENTIRE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH ANY POLITICAL PARTY, WE ARE NOT A POLITICIAN BUT AN ACTIVISTIST A MACHINERY FOR GOOD GOVERNANCE’ we call on blackmailers to desist from spreading rumor. The focus of our government shall remain effort to consolidate on the issue that has to do with well being of Nigeria technical and vocational sector. The struggle to End dichotomy, effort to stop discrimination against HND holders among employers of labors In Nigeria such as banking sector, dragging of cooperate and social responsibility and reputable private and public firms to Nigeria students door step on and off campus, constructive engagement of federal government to extend her scholarship scheme mainly for first class graduates in Nigeria universities to distinction graduate student in polytechnics, conducive learning environment, close monitoring of all naps institution management policy and its implementation to avert hardship on Nigerian students, establishment of democratic elected student union government in all our members institutions, rejection and aversion of all mechanism of victimization and intermediation of student leaders on campus among others. Our leadership shall operate open door policy in the course of pursuing the legitimacy of our leadership, we shall ensure all round pegs is fix in round holes, we solicit for the support of all stakeholders in education sector, council of rectors, council of provost, academic staff union of polytechnic ASUP, academic staff of colleges of education COEASU, national board for technical education NBTE, national commission for colleges of education NCCE, national university commission NUC, federal ministry of education, office of special assistant to president on youth and student matters, department state service DSS, Nigerian police force and other relevant agencies of government and private enterprise, we shall engage our students in capacity and leadership development initiatives, we shall affiliate and partner all reputable firm capable of enriching We shall justify the mandate given to us been the first product of naps revolutionary congress. We express total satisfaction and sincere appreciation to His Royal Majesty Oba Muftau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II the Olofa of Offa, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara state, Dr, Muftau Olatinwo, the performing governor of kwara state, Alh.
