Belarus yesterday was the home to a covert battle between ISAF SF - TopicsExpress

Belarus yesterday was the home to a covert battle between ISAF SF and Russian VDV forces in a tranquil mountain region to the South. The heat was burning its’ way through the canopy and the high altitude was a problem for the two forces trying to cope with the heat and the terrain. The SF team deploying into the field suffered a setback on the tarmac, after 1 member injured themselves getting on the helo leaving only 7 SF to achieve their objectives in the AO. The VDV still outnumbered SF 2 ½ to 1. SF primary missions included; Destroying the enemy firebases at Bridge & Fort, Missiles, Outpost, Checkpoint Charlie, Hedgerows and Rebel Base thus denying them as Russian spawnpoints for the entire game. Poisoning 3x water supply points. Killing enemy HVTs. Prevent SCUD missile launch. Locate and extract GPS uplink caches. The SF once dropped into the field moved towards B&F quickly capturing it and locating 2 GPS boxes, whilst the VDV swept in over the arenas quickly securing Rebel Base, Hedgerows, CPC, Outpost and pushing the SF back and pinning them in dead ground where VDV had the height advantage. The SF managed to extract and loop back behind VDV forces taking the long and difficult route uphill to gain a tactical advantage. The VDV not content with sitting and defending went on the offensive, aggressively pursuing the SF and keeping them moving with no respite. After some double back tracking a section of the SF managed to get behind CPC and take the defenders unaware securing their foothold close to the VDV main base. A new mission was activated and intel stated an informant was in the area to be captured / brought in at all costs, the VDV were quick off the mark, securing the informant and extracting him to Missiles before heading to Rebel Base. SF aborted this rescue mission knowing the ground to cover in the time allowed was too little. SF were eventually forced back to B&F and an immense firefight broke out whilst the SF tried to hold off the VDV from all angles, a few grenades later and a hail of suppressing fire, the entire SF team was wiped out. The VDV managed to secure the Missile launch area and a countdown was initiated to launch the missiles at ISAF units in the neighbouring AO, SF only had 35 mins to prevent the launch, valiant attempts from sneaky sneaky try and slide past them along with full frontal attacks left a small dent in the VDV armour but being dug in behind barricades and effective comms kept the SF well at bay. The missiles launched and tore trees down tearing up into the sky on their way to their targets leaking thick black smoke trails behind in their paths. VDV high command in Russia frustratingly told their units to hold fast at the launch site not knowing what was going on on the ground. The SF got a breath back and moved off quickly to try and get their final objectives completed. The VDV local commander threw down his radio in disgust and ordered the VDV units to chase down the SF and wipe them out before they had a chance to get anywhere. Hot on their tails the VDV came under fire from SF tail end charlies left behind to slow follow up units. Under a hail of withering fire the men left behind fell and soon the VDV were chasing only a few survivors who were hell bent on the completion of the final missions. As the last few shots rang out an uneasy silence crept across the area. SF high command declared that the 9 hour long window was cancelled and that it was imperative for all ISAF units to return to their base for evac as word was coming through of a new Russian advance in the Crimea where all units would be required to extract US civilian casualties from a downed Boeing 747 behind Russian lines. Points ISAF SF = 19 Destroy en firebases = 6 Intel obtained = 3 Poison water supplies = 6 Kill HVT = 5 GPS uplinks = 4 Prevent missile launch = -5 VDV = 17 Intel retrieved = 3 Kill HVT = 5 Launch missiles = 5 GPS uplinks = 2 Intercept informant = 2 2 quotes from the day stuck with me, one was from the VDV saying Its like chasing ghosts (ref trailing the SF team all over site) and the other was from the SF Ive been made, Ive been made when Tom was under heavy fire trying to lead the VDV away from his teammates. All in all I think the day was a success and the couple of extra games bolted on the end kept a faster pace and got some good killstreaks on the go! Another milsim is currently being planned for November which Joshua Thorogood has kindly agreed to help me plan and run, I am looking for another to give us enough of a team to organise each team, provide admin on facebook and keep dropping intel to each team during the game. That said, to those who played rest up and get prepping for November ;)
