Belfast and Larne ferry sailings cancelled in stormy weather A number of Irish Sea ferry services have been cancelled due to stormy weather in parts of Northern Ireland. P&O Ferries said all its services between Northern Ireland and Scotland have been suspended on Thursday. Stenaline has cancelled its 07:30 GMT ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan and its 10:30 GMT Belfast to Liverpool service. Met Office weather warnings for strong winds and heavy rain remain in force on Thursday. A small number of roads have been blocked by fallen trees. Police have advised motorists that the Rehaghy Road, Aughnacloy, County Tyrone, and Ardlough Road, Londonderry, are blocked by fallen trees and Leckpatrick Road, Strabane, has been closed due to a fallen electricity pole. The Foyle bridge in Derry has been shut to traffic as winds of up to 70 mph are expected to affect northern counties of Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) had warned of possible damage to the power network. On Thursday morning, a NIE spokesperson said the storms had not been as bad as predicted, but added that the weather warning remained in place until 09:00 GMT. BBC Northern Ireland weather presenter, Angie Philips, said heavy rain, especially in northern counties, combined with melting snow, could lead to localised flooding. She added that the winds are set to remain strong into the evening but the heavy rain will turn more showery and the wind is expected to ease overnight. All ferries sailings between Rathlin island and Ballycastle, County Antrim have been cancelled on Thursday due to the weather conditions. A number of Irish Sea ferries services were also cancelled overnight, but a Stenaline spokesman said its sailings would resume before noon on Thursday, with the 11:30 GMT Belfast to Cairnryan services expected to depart on time. Passengers should contact their ferry company for the latest updates.
