Believe it or not, I have nothing against religion even though I - TopicsExpress

Believe it or not, I have nothing against religion even though I dont have a belief. I believe that it is a great way to self-govern and empower an individual. If it empowers you, your family, or your fellow man, why would I be against it? For this reason, I not only support but respect the religious beliefs of others. However, the operative word is self-govern. To impose ones ideas on another ...is not only ethnocentric, but unacceptable. It has no place in our laws and how we impose those laws. We need to stop telling people what they can or cannot do. We all have the right to live our lives without others twisting our arm. The hard question, Are you going against your beliefs if you vote yes for something you dont believe? At this point, ask if the issue pertains to your life. If the answer is no and you dont believe that the law will physically hurt others, then I believe that an individual can vote yes with a clear conscience. The only caveat would be to not do what the law allows. Once again, this goes back to self-governance. All I ask religious people is before you cast your vote, ask yourself if your belief comes from your religious doctrine. If the answer is yes, then re-evaluate. This also pertains to militant atheist. Our religious brothers have the right to believe how they see fit and live the lives they deem true.
