Belize Police Report Tuesday, March 4, 2014 COROZAL DISTRICT ARREST Reference Robbery report made by Ricardo Villasenor on 25.02.14, on 28.02.14, police arrested and charged 22-year-old Israel Rancharan of Venezuelan Site, Corozal Town with Conspiracy to commit Robbery, 26-year-old Hector Kelly of Halls Layout, Corozal Town and 18-year-old Zandon Myers of 4th Avenue, Corozal Town with Robbery. CAYO DISTRICT HOUSE FIRE At 7:30p.m. on 02.03.14, police visited #167 George Price Highway where they observed a two storey building measuring 20ft. by 30ft. was seen engulfed in flames. The upper flat is a wooden structure while the lower flat is of concrete. The upper flat was completely destroyed by fire. Initial investigations revealed that 46-year-old Angelina Gordon, Belizean domestic of same address left home at 6:00p.m. leaving her common-law husband Eugene Flowers at home and at 7:00p.m., she received information that her house was on fire. The estimated cost of the house and items is $40,000.00Bcy. No one was injured and the cause of the fire has not been ascertained. Police investigations continue. STABBING INCIDENT At 3:00a.m., on 02.03.14, police visited the San Ignacio Town Hospital where they saw 24-year-old Alfredo David Novelo of Bishop Martin Street, Santa Elena Town suffering from an apparent stab wound to the right side of the back. Police also observed 25-year-old Richard Sanchez, Gas Attendant of New Area, Benque Viejo Town suffering from an apparent stab wound to the left side of the chest. Initial investigations revealed that while Novelo was standing in front of Blue Angels Night Club located on Hudson Street, San Ignacio Town, he got into an altercation with a group of young men where he was stabbed to the right side of the back. Upon seeing what was happening, Sanchez intervened at which time he was stabbed to the right side of the chest. Both men were transported to the San Ignacio Town Hospital and Novelo was later transported to the K.H.M.H. where he was admitted in a critical condition. Police investigations continue. CATTLE THEFT Mirto Gamez, Belizean laborer presently residing in Benque Viejo Town Cayo District visited the san Ignacio police station and reported that on 02.03.14, at around 12a.m. and 7a.m. his white horse was stolen from the yard of Miss Romelia in Ezperanza village, the horse has a brand on the right leg with markings MG, the horse is about 7yrs old, a well mature horse with muscular body which and the horse is tame. Police investigations continue. BELMOPAN BURGLARY Barton Foster, 49yrs, Belizean Businessman of #4816 Baldy Sibun Street, Piccini Area, Belmopan reported that on 03.02.14, he departed Belize en route to Unites States leaving his house secured and upon returning on 28.02.14, he discovered that his house was broken into. Stolen was a security cabinet which contained (1) 9mm Smith and Wesson brand pistol, S/N-SAE8347, value $3,000.00bcy. and other electrical items totaling $8,000.00bcy. Police investigations continue. ORANGE WALK DISTRICT STABBING INCIDENT At 1:40a.m., on 02.03.14, police visited Asuncion Street, Orange Walk Town where they saw Abimael Eleazer Romero, Police Constable #1322 suffering from (18) apparent stab wounds to the back, abdomen and right hand. He was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital; however he stated that he does not recall anything in respect to his assailants. He also stated that a blue and grey knapsack which contained his Belizean Passport, clothing, (1) HTC cell phone was missing. Police investigations continue. INTER-MEDIATE SOUTHERN FORMATION POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION At 1:00pm on 28.02.14, Dr. Mario Estradabran conducted a post mortem examination on the body of 4-year-old Ernesto Diaz of Farm 14, Toledo District, where the doctor certified the cause of death to be ‘Asphyxia due to drowning.” FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT At 7:05pm on 02.03.14, Police visited an area in front of the primary school in Trio Village, Toledo District where they saw a white pick-up truck overturned in a drain. No one was seen in the vehicle. Police then visited the Independence Polyclinic where they saw the bodies of 25-year-old Wilfredo Jaime, Belizean Farmer of Independence Village and Antonio Mejia. Police also observed 19-year-old Christopher Gutierrez, Belizean Farmer of Independence Village who appeared to be in a state of Shock. He was later transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was admitted. Initial investigations revealed that the men were traveling in the pickup and upon reaching in front of the school, the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided in the drain. Jaime and Mejia received head and body injuries and were transported to the Polyclinic where they were pronounced dead. Police investigations continue. BELIZE DISTRICT THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE 63-year-old Glenn Clifford Rivero Sr., Belizean retiree of #13 Cemetery Lane, Belize City reported that at 1:30a.m. on 02.03.14, he parked his green 2010 Lifan Motorcycle, license plates MC-3077, valued at $2,500.00Bcy in his yard and upon making checks at 6:30a.m. on same date, he noticed that it was missing. Police investigations continue. SHOOTING INCIDENT 7:31pm on 01.03.14, police visited #8 Curassow Street, Belize City where they saw 17-year-old Marlon Samuels, Belizean student of #40 Iguana Street, suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the right leg, 17-year-old Devin Parham, Belizean student of #16 Curassow Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left foot and 42-year-old Arlene Cole, Belizean housewife of #16 Curassow Street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her right foot. Initial investigations revealed that at 7:30p.m., all three victims were socializing in an alley when a lone gunman on a bicycle came from the direction of Cemetery Lane into Curassow Street and fired several shots at them causing their injuries. They were transported to the K.H.M.H. Where they were treated and released. Police recovered (8) 9mm expended shells from the scene SAN PEDRO TOWN SHOOTING INCIDENT On 01.03.14, police visited the San Pedro Polyclinic where they saw 26-year-old Steven Bowen, Belizean Tour Guide of San Mateo Area, San Pedro Town suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds (to the left leg, right leg, right elbow, left ear, left shoulder and back). Initial investigations revealed that at 7:40p.m., on same date, Bowen was walking home along with two friends and upon reaching a dark area, two male persons of dark complexion ran out of the nearby bushes armed with handguns and fired several shots in their directions. The complainant fell to the ground where one of the cowards came and stood over him and fired several shots causing his injuries. Bowen was transported to the San Pedro Polyclinic and later to the K.H.M.H. for further treatment. Police recovered (11) 9mm expended shells from the scene and their investigations continue.
