Bella came into our lives very unexpectedly 15 months ago (when Laura and the Estes found her at the lake almost starved to death at about 6weeks old). She was truly a blessing sent from God. It was at a time where Kaitlyn and Laura were going off to college and Rich had to start traveling for his job. She was such a joy to all of us. For those of you who met her you know that she had a dogs soul in a cat s body. Rich had never had a pet and she won him over immediately! He loved that cat as evidenced last night when a strong man cried. She opened our hearts to the love that people can have for their pets. We will miss her greatly and will never forget her. Now to let you know what happened-- she was playing normally and then about 10:30. She came hysterically scooting into the family room. At first we thought she was playing. But she kept scooting and trying to get under the chair. We noticed that it seemed her back and back legs were paralyzed. Rich found an emergency hospital and the 3 of us took her. The vet did X-rays which showed nothing fractured. She said that in rare cases pure breds can have a genetic disposition to herniated discs which can cause paralysis. She said they could do surgery but she might still be paralyzed-- and was in a lot of pain. She said since it was genetic it could happen again and again. So not wanting her to be in any more pain we had to let her go. Sorry to be so long- winded but thanks for your texts and posts. Love you all
