Bellas appointment went well today considering all they did. She only cried when they put the drops in her eyes but they burn so I would be jumpin too. The retina specialist says that right now they will treat the pigmentation as a freckle but will closely monitor it every 6 month with a regular visit with her normal ophthalmologist every 3. I got to see the very detailed picture f the back of her eye and seen the ‘freckle’ it’s fairly large but there is no discoloration around it or is it elevated so they don’t think there is any concern of Melanoma right now. Her specialist said that being she is so fair skinned and pale blue eyes she will need to be careful being outside which we already are. She believe she may have been born with it and pervious doctors before her recent one never seen it. She said it is rare to find something like this is children her age being it’s normally seen in much older patients. Is she at risk of it turning into a melanoma, YES but are we really concerned right yet….not really. If we come back and see a huge change then we’ll have to start a different treatment plan but as for now we’ll just watch it. She can have a cold laser treatment done by another cancer specialist for the eye that is in Tallahassee if we need to but that is VERY far into the future if at all. As of right now we haven’t got any major concerns with blindness either. We’ll keep an eye on that as well. Thank you for all the prayers for her!!!
