Belle Vue gets land in Rajarhat New Town for second campus ================================================= The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) has allotted a 2-acre plot to Belle Vue Clinic in New Towns Acton Area II for the latters second campus in the city. The proposed nursing school and college, for which land has been allotted through e-auction, will have both degree and diploma courses. The hospital has been allotted the plot through e-auction. The Belle Vue authorities have promised to complete all necessary formalities as soon as possible, said HIDCO chairman-cum-managing director Debashis Sen. Belle Vue CEO P Tandon said the new unit will start functioning within 18 months. It will also have an attached eye-care facility, he added. According to sources, there is a shortage of trained nursing staff in the health sector in Bengal at present. The degree and diploma nursing courses in the new Belle Vue campus will help in filling up the gap to some extent, he felt. Currently, there is only one specialized healthcare unit in New Town - the Tata Medical Centre. However, it is a specialized cancer hospital and residents of the township now have to go all the way to Salt Lake or towards VIP Road in case of an emergency. HIDCO is working on the plan to set up a health hub in the township that will have several specialized healthcare units. According to plans, specialized healthcare units like orthopaedic, geriatric, diabetes and trauma care centers will come up in the health hub, which will spread over about 7-8 acre of land. The authorities are putting up land on auction to invite reputable private players having specialization in medical care to set up these healthcare units. Source: The Times of India
