Beloved Ones, #WhatStoriesAreYouLettingGoOf? #storytellingasrevolution #storytellingfortransformation We hardly ever stop to recognize that we inhabit stories. Perhaps if we did this occasionally, we might recognize that not only are our realities made up, we see the world (and ourselves) through the lenses of those stories. We are dyed in, and stained by, those cultural plots - so to speak. Our many malleable identities are manufactured by powerful sites of production that have vested interests in maintaining a certain kind of mass human experience. Thats why recognizing those stories can often be the most liberating thing one could ever experience. Here, below, are some of the cultural myths I am learning to contest. Most of these themes are incredibly powerful and deeply foundational to the way we think and navigate the world. They are not false as such; they are true for many persons around the world. However, at present, they are no longer true for me - and for many I have come to know. I see these as counterproductive and (sometimes) harmful to what is seeking to emerge today. I offer them here in order to make visible what is largely invisible...what lurks behind the screens of our everyday lives - with the hope that we might at least have a frank conversation.
