The hero had fought and resisted the socialist, dictatorial government for many years and in the end had surrendered . . .In my opinion these lines are the saddest in all of literature. . I looked them up in order not to misquote them. . .LET US NOT GO DOWN THIS ROAD! The face of Big Brother loomed large over the announcement and Winston felt his eyes fill with tears of joy and reconciliation. The last lesson had been learnt. “He loved Big Brother.”
