Below from John Massey Facebook.... John Massey 17 hrs · Edited · ONE CENT SALES TAX LIST, WHAT WILL WE GET FOR OUR MONEY AND WHAT DO YOU WANT? Here is my wish list. Look down the countys list, watch the video. You decide where we should spend money and where we are wasting it. $2+ million in roofing, $2+ million for ballfields. $2+ million for schools, $5+ million for construction and renovation, another $2+ million for misc expenditures. Heres the breakdown list. Decide for yourself what do we really need. What is just special interest spending? Millions spent for the benefit of only a few. Two million for a “speculative building” a million and a half for a roof and A/C upgrades for a building that cost only 1. 4 million. Another two million being spent on more ballfield construction and upgrades. What about the thousands of kids in this county that don’t do sports. Whats in it for them? $100,000 for I-77 welcome signs!!! Some of this we definitely need, part of it maybe, some of it not at all. We could divert part of this 15 million the county wants to raise by keeping the extra penny sales tax, to build a teen center and multi-use family park here in town. Centrally locate it on the old Springsteen Mill site. The city already owns the land. Besides the teen center. There would be outdoor basketball/volleyball courts, a bike and walking path, a skateboard park, outdoor playground equipment, picnic tables, for small children and their families. Depending on the money we could divert, smaller versions of the main teen center/park, could be located in outlying communities. We could also apply for grant money from the Springs/Close Foundation to build on the old mill site. Ask for donations from Walmart and other local businesses. If you are a kid or teenager and you don’t do sports what can you do in this county? Go to the movies??? Oops my bad, we don’t have movies. how about hang out in parking lots and walk the streets late at night, join street gangs, get in trouble, like some of you do now. youtube/watch?v=UR1MdSgJwgE ROOFING $2,189,000 Chester War Memorial building roof renovations $144,000.00 County Health Department roof/ meeting room renovations $170,000.00 Department of Juvenile Justice building roof renovation $10,000.00 Family Court building roof renovations $125,000.00 Voter registration building roof renovations $200,000.00 Great Falls Fire Station/EMS roof renovations $40,000.00 County Government Complex metal roo /renovations $1,510,000.00 BALLFIELDS, IMPROVEMENTS AND CONSTRUCTION $2,150.500 Joe Collins facility upgrades and field improvements $225,000.00 Install lighting at Rodman Complex baseball fields 1 & 2 $200,000.00 Construct two soccer fields with lighting $308,000.00 Construct upgraded facilities at Rodman Complex $40,000.00 Construct baseball/softball with lighting at Rodman Complex $115,000 Install lighting at Republic Field in Great Falls $175,000.00 Install lighting at Chester Complex fields 1 through 5 $650,000.00 Construct two new softball fields at Chester Complex $300,000.00 Install lighting at Gayle softball field $137,500.00 ATHLETICS, PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, SCHOOLS $2,225,000 Chester School District elementary playground equipment $500,000.00 Great Falls basketball and tennis courts upgrades $20,000.00 Lewisville High School athletic facility upgrades $155,000.00 Upgrade lighting for Chester and Lewisville High Schools $25,000 Chester School District regulation track $500,000.00 Construct athletic field houses for each high school $1,050,000.00 CONSTRUCTION , OTHER RENOVATIONS, STREETS, SIGNS $5,281,800 Construct fire substation North Chester $125,000.00 Construct fire substation Fort lawn $125,000.00 Construct welcome signs on I-77 at Exit 65 $100,000.00 Construct two helicopter pads near I-77 $16,800.00 Downtown City of Chester streetscaping $65,000.00 City of Chester parks renovation $30,000.00 City of Chester way-finding and entry signs at major entry points $30,000.00 Chester County Museum renovations $70,000.00 Wylie Park renovations $65,000.00 Great Falls town hall renovations $50,000.00 City of Chester City Hall renovations $525,000.00 McKeown Building renovations $45,000.00 Lewis Fire Station renovations and expansion $150,000.00 City of Chester West-End activity center renovations $125,000.00 City of Chester Fire Department renovations and expansion $150,000.00 Great Falls waste water treatment plant renovations $100,000.00 Construct City of Chester, South Chester fire substation restrooms $20,000.00 Construct new office building for County animal control $75,000.00 Construct storage facility for County fire coordinator $25,000.00 Construct County Library basement expansion $125,000.00 City of Chester Public Works facility renovations $75,000.00 Construct and refurbish City of Chester sidewalks $125,000.00 City of Chester “Backlot” and amphitheater streetscaping $45,000 City of Chester overflow parking lot and retaining wall $35,000.00 Construct City of Chester police substations $225,000.00 Construct City of Chester Public Works yard debris site $415,000.00 Chester Technology Park Speculative Building $2,000,000.00 Emergency Management Agency Federal Building renovations $175,000 Construct Additional Restrooms at the Chester Complex $20,000 Construct Maintenance Facility at County Detention Center $150,000 MISC $2,619,000 EMS equipment (monitor defibrillators and stretchers) $215,000 Great Falls sewer line replacement (Brooklyn Bridge) $300,000.00 Great Falls leaf vacuum $20,000.00 City of Chester Evergreen Cemetery improvements $15,000.00 City of Chester Housing Authority common area improvements $69,000 Construct GITI Tire sewer line $2,000,000 Impact of a teen center. youtube/watch?v=_U2i05VObMA
