January 28, 2014 – The Columbus Council on World Affairs will be hosting a Signature Luncheon in Columbus. The title of this luncheon is OH2O: Local Companies and the Battle against the Global Water Crisis. January 29, 2014 – The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and the Clermont County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the event Are You Certifiable? January 31, 2014 – The SBDC at Kent State and Braintree Business Development Center will be hosting their annual Groundhog Day International Trade Forecast Breakfast in New Philadelphia. This event will feature Michael Weidokal of International Strategic Analysis (ISA) who will provide valuable information about current trends and the status of markets and economies of potential export targets. February 5, 2014 – The Ohio Development Services Agency (DSA) in conjunction with Kegler Brown will be hosting Exports to India: An Overview of Market Opportunities in Columbus. This event will discuss market opportunities in India, key legal and tax issues to consider in exporting and importing goods and services internationally, and information about DSA’s upcoming trade mission to India. February 5, 2014 – The U.S. Commercial Service of Northeast Ohio will be hosting the Canada-Northeast Ohio Energy Summit and Business-to-Business Forum in Independence. March 20, 2014 – The Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) in partnership with the Ohio Development Services Agency, U.S. Commercial Service, Dayton Regional Manufacturers Association (DRMA), and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be hosting Practical Tips for Suppliers of Civil Aircraft and Aircraft Parts to Increase Exports in Dayton. This conference will educate attendees about regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and foreign aeronautical authorities to help speed shipments to overseas customers. April 23-24, 2014 – The Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Development Services Agency will be hosting the Ohio Business Matchmaker in Dayton. May 20, 2014 – The Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs will be hosting the 3rd Annual Appalachian Ohio State of the Region Conference in Athens. This FREE day-long conference will address the region’s current status and opportunities in the manufacturing sector by bringing together national leaders and industry experts to discuss recent trends and developments. SBA Export Express Program – The Small Business Administration (SBA) has suspended the guaranty fee and on-going fee for loans under $150,000. This guaranty fee suspension will remain in place until September 30, 2014. Basically, this provides a savings for the small business of the 2% guaranty fee and a savings for the lender of the 52 basis points on-going fee.
