Below is a message that I sent to Geoff last night: I have decided to put these on this page instead of as a private message as this directly concerns the people in the surrounding area of the proposed allotments. Hi I am writing regarding the proposed allotments. I am very concerned about the proposed site. Where it is being suggested is there an expectation that entry to these allotments will be at the end of Ffordd y Goedwig? The roads surrounding this entrance are very small. There will undoubtedly be increased traffic, both pedestrian and cars. There will be nowhere for anyone to park as these small streets are very congested at the moment. Children play in these streets safe in the knowledge that this is a very quiet part of the village with no through traffic. I have concerns even about the increase in pedestrians to this part of the forestry and the safety of our children. People with houses backing onto this area have bought houses with the added value of backing onto the beautiful forestry that surrounds our village. How can it be justified that this view will be taken away from them, which will of course have a detrimental effect on their house value? If this plan goes ahead, are we to assume that more of the forestry surrounding us will be destroyed? Where would all of the works traffic park while this is being constructed? Do the people who live in the houses surrounding this area know about this proposal? Not everyone in the village is on facebook. I am strongly against this position for these allotments, please could you tell me how to express this formally to the forestry commission? I do not think that any of the fantastic forestry that surrounds us should be forfeited. Regards Claire Here is the reply I had from Geoff: The forestry comm are very keen to get projects like this up & running. the area selected has to be virtually cleared anyway in due course due to diseased trees See the leaflet woodlands & you community food projects on the Weelsh Gov. Woodland Estate As you can see from the above response, none of the questions that I asked were answered. I can see that some have been commented on in the thread below, however, there are still a lot concerns that are unanswered. Are we also to assume that the proposed location will actually be the location as no other areas have been suggested and it seems that from the above reply that there is no leeway with this suggestion? Please could we be told how the ‘no parking’ will be implemented? With all best intentions, people will bring their cars. A sign or a notice will not be anywhere near enough to ensure that this is the case. I agree that any scheme that enhances the life of the village is a good one, but how can it be justified when it will have a negative effect on the houses surrounding this area? Surely all schemes should benefit everyone living here? What will happen to this area when, with all the best will in the world, it is not kept up? Most people who live in this village are extremely busy with work and family, will there be somebody in charge of this project to keep the area clean and tidy? Will this area become the new place to ‘hang out’ for our teenagers? Will this attract groups of teenagers walking around this part of the village in the evenings? Please could we have the contact name and number of the person who is dealing with this for the Forestry Commission? Will there be a formal consultation process where everybody in the village can have their views heard? Some views and expressions on the above would be greatly appreciated from the members of this group. Thank you
