Below is a photo of Preston and Ruth Scott. Preston is riding Firecracker, a reddish sorrel born on the Fourth of July, and Ruth is riding a pinto named Billie. On Saturday mornings, the Scotts rode down from Pension Mountain on a rubber-tired wagon pulled by a team of mules. They loved children, and many children jumped on their wagon for a ride. The Scotts were very generous and often asked visitors to stay for lunch and dinner. Ruth would reach into a 3-ft by 3-ft hole in the kitchen floor and pull up all kinds of fruits and vegetables to serve. Does anyone have a memory of Preston or Ruth that they would like to share?
