Below is a revised update from the City of Fredericton Emergency Measures Organization regarding the Citys response to Hurricane / Topical Storm Arthur. Information about emergency food, ice locations and laundromats has been included. ***NEW***Emergency Food · Food Bank, Emergency Hampers, July 8, 9482 · Meals on Wheels, 458-9482 · Provincial Social Development staff will be on hand at Grant-Harvey Centre and Willie O’Ree Place. ***NEW***Laundromats Open · Mini Mart Esso 1853 Lincoln Rd.-open until 10 pm · Norge Cleaners 525 Beaverbrook Ct – open until 9 pm (very busy) · Paragon Cleaners 256 Regent-open until 9 pm · Rainbow Car Wash-939 Prospect-open until 11:45 pm · Riverside Quick Mart-79 Riverside Dr.-open until 10 pm (last load 9 pm) ***NEW***Ice · Petro Canada on Prospect street · Irving gas station at 396 Lincoln road · Irving on Bishop drive · Sobeys Brookside Charging Centres · Open at Grant-Harvey Centre and Willie O’Ree Place · Today until 9. July 9, 6 am to 9 pm Shower Centres · Open at Grant-Harvey Centre and Willie O’Ree Place · Today until 9. July 9, 6 am to 9 pm · Also: Good Life Fitness – Queen and Prospect, plus Fredericton YMCA Bulk Water Supply · Bulk water available in parking lots of Grant-Harvey Centre and Willie O’Ree Place · Bring your own containers. Water safe to drink. · NOTE: City residents are reminded that city water is still working and is safe to drink. Trees / Other Storm Questions · Trees down involving power lines call NB Power at 1-800-663-6272. Please be careful around powerlines. Assume they are live. · Trees along city streets or for other storm related questions, continue to call 460-2038 or 460-2996. o Crews working as fast as possible. JD Irving logging trucks assisting. · Clean up: City planning a special cleanup in three weeks. For right now, please only put out regular garbage for pickup. o Limbs can be piled separately. Please use paper leaf bags. Materials will be collected in three weeks for the City’s compost facility. · For those who want to remove their own fallen tree materials, please use: o The empty lot next to the car wash on Two Nations Crossing, near the City’s Parks & Trees Depot o The municipal compost facility at the old landfill near the Vanier Industrial Park. Food Disposal · Regular Garbage Day continues to be the best option to dispose of damage food from household freezers · Double bag garbage; keep separate/covered until garbage day to avoid attracting animals, etc. Volunteers · No calls for volunteer right now. · Check in on your neighbour. Pools · Queen Square Outdoor Pool, Killarney Lake and Wilmot wading pool are open. · ALL other City Pools are CLOSED. (Pumps can’t operate which mean pool water can’t be filtered and/or chlorinated.)
