Below is part of an email I received from the volunteer at Horizon House - Homeless Shelter who picked up my old furniture on New Years day. So much good is coming out of Jons death. He would be very humbled and grateful. Just like the rest of #teamshearer is! Keep shining bright from the Upper Room you crazy diamond Johnny Shearer!!! ________________________________________ What was amazing to me was the stress & worry you could see in this guy’s face, I could see the hardships of life in his eyes and the more he looked and touched that couch & chairs things seemed to change. I just started making small talk with him as we moved in the recliners and his face started changing more & more. He rocked them, but didn’t sit, he caressed and stared at them in disbelief. We then moved in the couch, he just stood there looking it and around theonce empty room. As we put the cushions on it around the corner a little boy about 7-8 years old stuck his head out and just went “awwwweee”! His smile as big & bright as the sun and the way he & his dad looked at each other then the furniture just sent chills up my spine. I had to get out of their quickly before anyone saw the tears that just poppingout of my eyes! I will never forget the look that father & son gave each other, it was totally overwhelming. The guy did come out and thank me profusely for everything and greatly appreciated everything. I hope that family makes it, I know they will get good use out of that stuff. I really think that donation went to the right home! They call what I do volunteering, well I don’t, I get rewarded pretty damn well!
