Below is the article in todays newspaper concerning the alleged approach of two children by a man in Tumut. Tumut police are investigating reports that a seven-year-old boy and an eight-year-old girl were approached as they rode their scooters home from school by a man in a white station wagon last Friday. The children were at the intersection of Forest and Simpson Streets, Tumut, at about 3.25pm when a vehicle described as a white station wagon, possibly a Ford, pulled up next to the children. Police said the driver told the two children to get in the car, to which the young girl replied no, and both children continued, while the vehicle left. The children arrived home safely and explained to their father what had taken place and police were contacted. The children described the man as bald, with a large build, caucasian in appearance with brown eyes and no facial hair, wearing a black t-shirt, white long pants with a black stripe down the side of his leg. A witness stated that she saw a white Ford Falcon station wagon travelling down Lambie Street at an unusually slow speed. The witness described the vehicle as a more modern and rounded vehicle which was dented and grimey with a significant dent on the front driver side about the size of a hand. The male occupant was described as “really large” with a large head, short grey hair, in his mid 50s and wearing a light grey/blue polo shirt, with olive skin and untidy appearance. Anyone with information is requested to contact Tumut police on 6947 7199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
