Below is the text of a letter sent to the office of Member of Parliament Colm Imbert earlier today. A scanned and signed copy is attached. The Point Fortin Highway Project remains mired in controversy. FIXIN T&T, in our ongoing attempt to unearth the truth in this matter, will continue to insist on answers from all who were at one time or another involved. Dear Mr. Imbert Re: The Point Fortin Highway Project You have stated that as Minister of Works and Transport in 2010 you advised the relevant parties to re tender for the project at caption after receiving bids from three companies. The reason you gave for this decision was the considerable disparity between the bid prices and the engineers estimate to build the highway; the bids received were significantly higher. We write to enquire: 1.How was this advice communicated to the relevant parties? 2.If communicated in writing can you arrange to make the documentation available for public consumption? 3.If communicated verbally, to whom was it communicated and when? This highway which is the single largest capital project in Trinidad & Tobagos history remains mired in controversy. As concerned and conscientious citizens we simply seek to unearth the truth. We look forward to your urgent response. Regards, Kirk Waithe Cc: Media
