Belton reply to one of the residents... The commissioners hired an idiot. During an Emergency I guess someone will open the gate??? Mr. Warren, Thank your for your email raising concerns regarding roadway access to Autumn Hills and the surrounding area. The County staff has been working with the developer to bring this concern to a resolution. While the developer is still within their building threshold before the road opening is required, he is planning to start construction on the remaining portion of McDaniel Road this summer. If all goes as planned, we are told by the developer that the road could be competed by the end of the year or shortly thereafter. That time schedule is contingent upon a Board of County Commissioners pending decision to participate in the cost of road construction as part of the Capital Improvement Program budget. With regard to the barriers on McDaniel Road between the new and old sections, they are required to be in place until the road improvement is completed. Also, as you may know, the barriers on Constitution Drive were removed and replaced by a temporary gate. The gate was installed to be accessible by emergency responders. As per the County Planning Commissions requirement, this is to remain in place until the last home in Autumn Hills is completed, then removed. We hope this information is helpful and please do not hesitate to contact our staff for more detailed information on these items. You may contact Jason Groth in the Department of Planning & Growth Management for further details at [email protected] or by calling (301) 396-5814. Thank you again for bringing your concerns to our attention. Best Regards, Mark Belton, Charles County Administrator
