Ben Affleck had so much emotion, he couldnt even see the connection between ideas and actions. For most people, ideas have relatively weak affect on actions because most of us arent overtly influenced by ideas. Were influenced by social pressures, the need to have a respectable job, caring for our family, and enjoying comfortable weekends. This is why nominal idealism is so popular. Every faith or movement has its majority of nominal followers and select few strong adherents. The big ideas of religion are no different and when people believe these ideas, embrace these ideas, and devote their life to these bizarre ideas, the modern world rightly condemns those actions. The modern world could do better by recognizing that certain ideas, like the doctrines of Islam, inspire negative behavior and preemptively criticize those ideas before they lead to unacceptable actions. P.S. The best people to do this are not those who hold pet ideas within the context of the argument. A Christian who thinks their version is the true version and not West Borrow Baptist Churchs or the Crusaders version simply cannot speak with intellectual integrity.
