Ben continues to improve. The Drs have said his bloods are still doing well and fingers crossed if all carries on we could be home in 3/4 weeks. They are slowing down his TNP (Total Parental Nutrition ) he is now on it 18hrs a day. They are starting his milk feeds back up in the hope that this will encourage his appetite back. (Tho he still cannot taste anything) anti biotics have stopped. Ben has developed a slight rash on his hands tho and they are very itchy so he is on anti histamine and steroid cream for this. The Drs are going to keep an eye on it. This is how GVHD starts. Graft Versus Host Disease If you have an allogeneic stem cell transplantation or a reduced-intensity allogeneic transplant, youre at high risk of developing graft versus host disease (GVHD). In fact, the older the person, the higher the risk for GVHD. GVHD develops when the donors immune cells mistakenly attack the patients normal cells. GVHD can be mild, moderate or severe - even life threatening. Its symptoms can include: rashes, which include burning and redness, that erupt on the palms or soles and may spread to the trunk and eventually to the entire body blistering, causing the exposed skin surface to flake off in severe cases nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and loss of appetite, which can indicate that the gastrointestinal (digestive) tract is affected jaundice, or a yellowing of the skin, which can indicate that your liver is damaged excessive dryness of the mouth and throat, leading to ulcers dryness of the lungs, vagina and other surfaces There is so much more to this but I didnt wanna put tooo much info on this thread. Lets jus keep out fingers crossed its mild and passes as it can be pretty horrible for the children to suffer with :( Have a good weekend ppl x
