Benefits and problems studying Buddhism in Mynmar Studying Buddhism in Myanmar is very good to develop the spiritual path, not physical development such as knowledge of business, economics and so on. When religious persons turns back to their parents, the religious persons cannot apply their knowledge. But Thai Buddhism teaches knowledge on society so as to carry out monks livelihood and lay livelihood according to what the people need therefore Thai society more develops and peaceful than Myanmar society. They set up the Buddhist University about 100 years ago. There areThai Buddhist universities: Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University and Mahamakutarama University where they can study knowledge about society namely Economics, Business, politics, international languages etc. They have many branches of their University overseas.They also focus on meditation too. Every student must practice meditation otherwise they cannot graduate. Sri Lanka monastic education Moreover Monks in Sri Lanka have a very good foundation of education. They study a brief special courses of secular education for 5 years when lay students study them for 10 years. The lay students also study sacred education too such as Pali, Sankrit, some important Dhamma, meditation etc therefore many Buddhist scholar are from Sri Lanka today. There are many famous Buddhist University in Sri Lanka. We exchanged our educational knowledge in our college. Nothing is good when it becomes extreme belief. Knowledge of mundane and supra-mundane should be balanced. The middle way is the golden way. Rural people ordain monks and nuns mostly. When they are rich, a country is rich. The rural people are about 80% in a the country therefore good eduction projects should be arranged immediately in Myanmar.
