Benefits of Beef The Complete Nutrition I asked him about one single diet that can transform-He came up with a difficult to digest answer-Beef. Stay Fit EJAZ AYOUB As a kid I was always fascinated with sculpted masculine ripped muscles of my favorite cartoon character “The He-man”. My brother, who by the way is a former bodybuilding medalist & my first bodybuilding coach, was a step ahead and he even used to spend his entire pocket money purchasing He-man comics. At times, in order to get permission from the big B to peep into his tempting flashy comics, I had to reluctantly rescue him by sanctioning special financial assistance of my treasure saved bunch of dimes & cents. After few years my brother had developed this crazy frenzy towards Sylvester’s and Schwarzenegger’s movies which eventually hypnotized him to join this super addictive Iron Game of Bodybuilding. I remember his first 6 months of transformation; it was incredible. I could see his increased shoulder width and he had to change his shirt size by two levels in such a short span. I was amazed and impressed but being a typical nerd, buried in books, I did not find it feasible for me to join my brother’s latest frenzy. The motivation was further pushed to floor when my brother had to face a blanket ban imposed by the father as he believed that gyming has substantially compromised my brother’s performance in studies. Like I said, my brother was addicted and after fathers dictum he thought of a new plan. Instead of going to gym; he purchased gyming equipments and started hitting the iron at home. This episode was a blessing in disguise for me. During his workouts my brother always used to take my assistance as a spotter and slowly and gradually I too got contaminated with the Iron bug but telling you honestly this is the most intense of all infections- Since then I just can’t stop myself from falling in love with this game. Getting exposed to Iron was only one part; the other and most important part was the diet. In addition to my brother, I was lucky enough to have a great friend-Mr. Mudasir Aziz who holds the record of earning 2 Mr. J&K titles, 4 Mr. Kashmir titles and a Gold Medalist in North India. His experience and exposure in this sport is tremendous and when I asked him about one single diet that can transform-He came up with a difficult to digest answer-Beef. That day I went home without knowing the repercussion, I along with my brother asked our mom to cook beef for us. She was stunned, gave a puking expression and even scolded us; as if we were asking for a dish made of anaconda stomach. That disgusted both of us and our mom scared us with dreadful diseases associated with beef like tapeworms, food poisoning and much more. Before dropping the idea I consulted my friend again and he went on saying that he faces a similar scene at home and the only source he relies on quality beef is a local barbeque shop. Keeping in consideration the kind of reputation barbeque shops hold, it was a big decision for me and my brother to eat outside. We somehow managed and the results were just amazing. We lifted bigger weights, developed endurance and above all packed quality muscle. Although the blanket ban on gyming was eventually lifted at home but, on Beef, it still exists with the same intensity. Reasons for Beef phobia: The habit of accepting Beef as a staple food is still not getting its place in our day to day menu. Although beef is widely consumed by Muslims, and many others, all over the world, but as per a research done by SMC, only 5-7 % of people from the city consume beef. The demands can are also indicated by the prices and a kg of beef in Middle East cost lot higher compared to mutton which is vice versa in case of Kashmir. There is a legal aspect to it as well. J&K is the only state in India where selling beef is a cognizable offence. Under Section 298 A of the Ranbir Penal Code, any violator is liable to imprisonment of 10 years and a fine. The slaughter of cows was banned by the erstwhile Dogra rulers and the practice continued even after 1947. T
