Benny’s Video (1992) Dir: Michael Haneke IMDb: imdb/title/tt0103793/ A German son of wealthy parents is fond of making and watching VHS movies particularly one where a pig is slaughtered. His parents go away for the weekend and he decides to make a movie himself leaving the parents to deal with the aftermath on their return. It has a tv movie feel despite the theme not being apt for it but there is some good acting-particularly the mother. The director went on to make Hidden (Caché), The Piano Teacher and the Funny Games remake. Ignoring the pig scene it’s quite decent and ticks along nicely although it could have been shortened by around 30 minutes. I didn’t link to a trailer as it shows too much and might put you off sausages.
