Bens writing notebook came home today with several unfinished assignments. Reading through it makes me sick with dread. Clearly he has been given no special instruction or guidance, and clearly needs remediation. His writings are collections of barely coherent sentences, with one having little to do with the next. Some writings have no mention of the assigned topic. How has this gone so wrong? How has he made it to 5th grade (much less 6th)? And with never less than a C on his report card? Why are they only sending the unfinished assignments home now?
