Benson wins second bronze medal Johanna Benson won a bronze medal at the IPC World Championships on Wednesday evening when she came third in the Women’s 100m T37 final. Mandie Francois Elie of France won the gold medal in a time of 13,72, with Maria Seifert of Germany winning silver in 14,30 and Benson bronze in 14,35. It was Benson’s second medal at the IPC World Championships after she had won another bronze medal in the Women’s T37 200m final on Monday. Namibia has now won four medals to date after Johannes Nambala won a silver medal in the Men’s 200m T13 and Ananias Shikongo a silver medal in the Men’s 200m T11. On Wednesday, Nambala reached the final of the Men’s 100m T13 when he came second in his semifinal in a personal best time of 11,05 seconds. The world record holder Jason Smythe won the heat in 10,72. Lahja Ishitile qualified for the Women’s 400m T11 final after second in her semifinal heart in 1:08,62. Albertina Johannes qualified for the Women’s 200m T46 final after coming third in her semifinal in a personal best time of 28,59. The heat was won by Cuba’s world record holder Yunidis Castillo in 26,07, while Teresinha Santos of Brazil came second in 27,15. In action on Thursday, Johannes Nambala will compete in the Men’s 100m T13 final, Lahja Ishitile will compete in the Women’s 400m T11 final and Albertina Johannes will compete in the Women’s 200m T46 final. Ananias Shikongo will compete in the Men’s 100m T11 semifinals and Elias Ndimulunde will compete in the Men’s 400m T46 semifinal. (namibiasport.na)
