Bentonville residents- Tomorrow marks the start of early voting for the run-off election. Traditionally, very few voters return to the polls for run-off elections. If you are able to make it to the polls (starting tomorrow at the County Clerks office 215 E. Central, Suite 217 Bentonville, Nov 18-21 ( 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) Nov 24 (8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)), I thought you may be interested in my recommendations for the two city council races. Grider versus Webb - In my very few interactions with Mr. Webb, hes been articulate and likeable. As I understand it, his family has been involved with politics in Bentonville for a long time. I do see Mr. Webb as a future leader in Bentonville, but wonder if he is ready for city council. My vote would be for Grider. Mr. Grider is a 12 year veteran of our city council. You cant dispute that hes been a common denominator on our council through the most transforming years of our citys history. Why would we want to lose his knowledge and leadership as we continue to progress? Burckart versus Reed - Firstly, I have nothing but positive things to report about Ms. Reed. However, Im recommending Mr. Burckart in the run-off. Although I ran against Mr. Burckart two years ago and was defeated, I have grown to respect the body of city knowledge he possesses from being on council for several years. By working alongside Mr. Burckart the last several months on council, Ive witnessed his ability to influence and get things done for Bentonville. I believe we can continue our momentum by keeping Mr. Burckart on council. Based on the November 4th election results, we will already have multiple new members join the city council. I think these new members will bring fresh ideas and perspective, but we should strongly consider retaining the remainder of the council. Take it from a member of council, experience really does matter. Give me a shout with any questions or concerns.
