Bernard Leon Barker (1917-2009), alias Frank Carter, CIA code - TopicsExpress

Bernard Leon Barker (1917-2009), alias Frank Carter, CIA code named “Macho”, was born in Havana, in 1917, to a Russian American father. Barker was a dual citizen of Cuba and the United States. He was shot down in WWII and held prisoner in German Stalag Luft I in Barth for 18 months, before being liberated by the Russians in 1945. He was a former member of the Cuban secret police, under the Batista Regime, and, along with Frank Sturgis, was recruited by E. Howard Hunt, of the CIA, to join Operation 40; in an attempt to topple Castro, in the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion. Jimmy Sutton was also a member of Operation 40 and was off shore on a boat, during Bay of Pigs, but Barker was actually in the invasion, and escaped capture. He was of Cuban decent and I am sure, after seeing his countrymen killed, imprisoned, and tortured in Bay of Pigs, would have gladly volunteered, even considered it an honor, to kill President Kennedy. Barker was a CIA operative, a mafia associate; under mob boss Santos Trafficante of Miami, and also did undercover work for the FBI. Barker was a close friend, and neighbor, with CIA asset Eugenio Martinez (the Watergate lock picker) and Key Biscayne banker Bebe Rebozo (a bosom buddy with Richard Nixon). In later years, Barker set up an undercover unit for Richard Nixon and was recruited, once again along with Frank Sturgis, by E. Howard Hunt (CIA), for the “Plumbers”, Nixon’s “Special Investigations Unit”. In 1971, Barker broke into the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist, Dr. Lewis J. Fielding, looking for incriminating information on Ellsberg because Ellsberg had released a series of articles that came to be known as the Pentagon Papers; reports about America’s unofficial operations in Vietnam. In 1972, Barker and Sturgis were two of the five Watergate burglars, paid by the Committee to Re-elect the President (CREEP), Nixon’s fundraising committee, to break into Democratic National Committee Headquarters, were convicted, and pled guilty to wiretapping, planting electronic surveillance equipment, and theft of documents. The word is the whole Watergate break was about retrieving documents that revealed Nixon, Bush, and the good old boys from Operation 40 were behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Barker and Sturgis were both there, in the Dealey Plaza parking lot behind the picket fence, on November 22, 1963 at 12:30 pm; Barker was identified, in later years, by officer Seymour Weitzman.
